Don G. and Virginia A. Widdison of Hooper will celebrate their 90th birthdays. Family and friends are welcome to attend an open house in their honor from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, at the Shenandoah Ward building, 5000 S. 5900 West, Hooper.
She was born on June 13, 1923, in Salt Lake City to Fred R. and Florence W. Allen. She attended schools in Salt Lake City and Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School. She attended nurses' training at LDS Hospital and worked for several doctors in Ogden. She served on the Weber County Planning Commission, the Weber-Morgan Council on Aging and the Hooper Board of Adjustment. She has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In recent years, she took up watercolor painting and takes classes at the Washington Terrace Senior Center.
He was born on June 10, 1923, in Hooper to James G. and Lillian G. Widdison. He graduated from Weber High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Iran, Iraq, Egypt and Morocco. He was a farmer and dairyman. He currently has a wood shop, where he builds furniture.
They were married on Feb. 7, 1945, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Their children and spouses are Ginnie Robertson, Laura Sawyer, Barbara and David Johnson, Jeff and Laurel Widdison, Sue and Doug King, and Kim and Ben Shaffer. They have 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
