SUNSET -- A man was killed Monday when he was hit by a FrontRunner train.
Sunset Police Chief Ken Eborn said the incident happened around 6 p.m. near 2400 North, just above Meadow Park. Police believe they've identified the man but are not releasing his name until his family has been notified.
The man may have been suicidal, Eborn said, but that has not been confirmed and is based only on what the FrontRunner conductor told police as a witness.
After the incident, the FrontRunner stopped near 6000 South in Roy, causing delays. Eborn said buses would possibly be used to transport passengers to the next FrontRunner station.
Eborn said this is the third or fourth person hit by a train in the last few years near the same location. Of those, all but one were ruled suicides.
It is the second fatality involving a train in the area within a week. Thatcher Overton, 23, was struck and killed Saturday by a Union Pacific train near 6000 South and 2400 West.
