Thayne Robert Green of Syracuse will celebrate his 90th birthday at a dinner party with his family at The Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Layton today, June 2.
He was born on May 27, 1923, in Layton at the home of his parents Robert E. Green and Malinda Burton Green.
He graduated from Davis High School and soon after joined the Army Air Corps. He became a pilot and flew P-38s and P-51s during World War II. He later flew weather recon WB-50s in the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force and went to work as a civilian in data services at Hill Air Force Base. He spent many years in the real estate industry, retiring at the age of 82. He owned and operated Valley West Real Estate for several years and was a partner in New Generation Homes.
His interests are horses, fishing, watching sports, traveling, history, reading and visiting with family and friends.
He was married to Genevieve Lake. The had four sons and later divorced. He then married Patricia Reinhart Cornelious. From this marriage, he gained two daughters.
His children and their spouses are Bob and Anne Green, St. George; Doug Green (deceased) and Pam Green, Cascade, Mont.; Mark and Holly Green, Williston, N.D.; Brad Green, Evanston, Wyo.; Cynthia and Kurt Argyle, Hooper; and Leslie and Bill Walsh, Grapevine, Texas. He has 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren with another on the way.
