In 1977 there was a terrible drought and Marin County, California was feeling it more then others because of the lack of reservoirs. They were more interested in the land for development. They asked that everyone wash clothes once a week, use the rinse water to wash the car, water the plants. By no means could people water the lawn or there was a hefty fine. Restaurants would not offer water unless people asked for it. They saved the water that the patrons did not drink to clean floors, etc.
No matter where everyone was, there were billboards suggesting ways to save water; some even brought a smile to people's faces----"Save water, shower with a friend."
While I was out and about and I noticed a business hosing down its driveway (a lot of that going on around here); I would not shop there any longer and to this day, I never have water at a restaurant.
In the past few days, even with all the information from the water resource people that our water shortage is real, life goes on as if they are "lying to us, you can't believe what you read in Ogden's Standard-Examiner."
May I suggest people take a drive to Pine View, Echo or Deer Creek, you will be shocked at the water levels. And, the Ogden River is flowing like it does in August.
