SALT LAKE CITY -- If you've never shot a .22-caliber rifle before, your chance might just be at the Lee Kay Public Shooting Range open house Friday and Saturday at 6000 W. 2100 South in Salt Lake City.
The archery, rifle and handgun ranges will be open for free from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Fees will be reduced for those who want to use the shotgun range.
The open house is designed for shooters of all abilities, and part of the range will be set aside just for first-time shooters.
The range will provide free of charge .22-caliber rifles and enough ammunition to shoot at least a few rounds.
Free instruction also will be provided by Division of Wildlife Resources staff and hunter education instructors.
Bows, arrows and free instruction also will be provided on the range's archery range.
C-A-L Ranch has teamed with the DWR to make the open house possible. For information, call the range at 801-972-1326.
