SALT LAKE CITY -- Authorities say a 17-year-old boy escaped from a residential treatment school in Provo, stole a Mercedes-Benz SUV and rammed into another car, killing one of the occupants.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the boy has already been convicted of manslaughter and is being held in juvenile custody until he turns 21.
The teen ran away from Provo Canyon School about a year ago and broken into a nearby home. The homeowner returned to find the boy wearing his clothes. He asked the boy to leave -- and he took off in a Mercedes after finding the keys inside.
He returned to Provo Canyon School to show off his stolen vehicle. Police later caught up with him, but during a chase he rammed another vehicle, killing 65-year-old Alexandra Ogren of Mapleton.
