OGDEN -- The 2013 Utah High School Baseball Coaches All-Star Games, now in their 69th year, were so power-packed that one day couldn't handle all the action.
Friday started off with a Showcase event for the 100-plus all-stars, selected by high school coaches from around the state, who displayed their skills for scouts and college coaches early on at Lindquist Field.
Later Friday, a bevy of freshmen, sophomores and juniors from around the state treated fans to an impressive display in the first underclassmen game.
The game went extra innings with the North topping the South squad 5-4.
Today's tripleheader also will be played in a North vs. South format.
In all, 29 Top of Utah standouts were selected to represent their schools and their regions in the games.
Leading off the lineup is the 3-A all-star contest, set for noon. The 5-A all-star contest will follow at approximately 3:30 p.m. Finally, the 4-A all-star contest is set for 7 p.m.
Admission is $1 per person for the tripleheader.
Due to the late finish of the underclassmen game, a recap will be included with Saturday's All-Stars games coverage.
