The state Office of Education is recommending a "Find a Book" website to help students find reading-level appropriate books.
Parents or guardians, or students who have their parent/guardian's permission, can go to www.lexile.com/fab/UT and enter the student's Lexile measure, if they have it from their school, or can enter the student's grade level.
A list of recommended books can be saved or printed.
According to the state office students who don't read over the summer experience reading-skills loss, and have lower reading scores when they return to school in the fall. Studies have shown that students who read six or more books over the summer can stem that loss.
