Bert and Darlene Hamblin of Ogden will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 12. Family and friends may join them at an open house hosted by their children in their honor from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, at their home. RSVP by June 12 at http://hamblin.eventbrite.com.
They met in 1949 at a church activity and married on June 12, 1953.
They raised a family of three sons and three daughters. Their children and spouses are Brent and Sherol Hamblin, Lindon; Lyman Duane and Tracy Hamblin, Golden, Colo.; Terry and Denise Hamblin, Ogden; Tonya and Mark Petersen, Nibley; Teana and Corey Mulvey, Ogden; and Tamra and Kevin Wright, West Haven. They have 29 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Both are known for their work in the arts. She is an artist and has won many awards with her compositions in oils, pastels, watercolors and other mediums. In 2009, she was invited to join other local artists in designing and painting life-size fiberglass horses for Ogden Pioneer Days.
He has been a wood worker, but has lately been using his gift to turn exotic woods into pepper mills and bottle stoppers.
The talents of both have been passed on to their descendants.
