Vote 'no' on the library bond and vote 'yes' to improve our schools where children learn how to appreciate libraries. I believe in the value of a good library system, but I can't see spending $13.77 per year for 18 years while our school system is crumbling around us. Seems like a misplaced priority in my mind. If we spend money on educating our children, we'll re-coup more than our investment. Increasing my property taxes for this purpose doesn't meet an immediate community need or safety standard (mosquito abatement, sewer infrastructure, etc.).
If I'm going to increase my home budget in our current economic times, it better be for something critical that our community needs. Take care of our children's education first----then I'll vote 'yes' to enhance their knowledge with a new library.
