Our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ella Lucile Sumsion Watts, was born June 7, 1918, in Springville, Utah, to Frank and Pearl Sumsion. She married Leo J. Watts on May 14, 1941, a union which lasted 61 years until his passing in 2002. They built their lives together in Springville and were reunited with her passing on June 14, 2013, due to incidence of age.
Her life was one devoted to her family and friends. She always made time for people, recognizing that friendly and loving relationships were all that mattered in this world. She gave her family the gifts of hard work, honesty, and compassion, values that were central to her happy life. Even in her advanced years she always greeted her grandchildren with a soft gentleness that made them feel special.
She worked for 26 years at JC Penney, rarely taking days off, and hardly ever calling in sick. After retirement she continued working at the Springville Senior Center for 20 years. She loved the Utah Jazz, quilting, reading, playing cards, and visiting with her family. She also enjoyed traveling to Strawberry Reservoir to fish and stay in the family cabin. She was a member of the LDS Church teaching Sunday school and Primary, and enjoyed being a visiting teacher.
She is survived by her children, JoAnn (Tom) Jensen, and Jim (Carol) Watts. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Jensen.
