Duane Chris and Karla Garner Jensen of North Ogden celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family at the Maddox Ranch House. They were married on June 6, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
He was born on July 11, 1941, in Ogden to Duane A. Jensen and Adele McFarlane Jensen. He graduated from Weber High School, where hewas a wrestler and on the debate team, and Weber State College. He was a concert pianist in his youth. He served an LDS mission to Australia. He later met Karla Garner. Among his church positions, gospel doctrine teacher was his favorite. He enjoyed serving as a temple worker in the Ogden LDS Temple. He has worked at Western Star Trucking, Hill Air Force Base, Volvo White Motor, Levolor and retired from Autoliv. His hobbies are fishing, tennis, cooking, photography, computers and camping.
She was born Aug. 27, 1943, to E. Spencer Garner and Audrey Jensen Garner. She graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College. She sang with the melodettes at Wahlquist Junior High School. She was a champion tennis player in the Ogden area. She enjoys walking her dogs, hiking, gardening, taking photographs, sewing and cake decorating. She served in two Relief Society presidencies and in the Young Women’s presidency. She worked at See’s Candy, retiring from North Ogden Junior High School and J.C. Penney. Their children and spouses are Lisa and Cameron Allen, Matthew Jensen, Amy and Corey Thornock, and Andrew and Jennifer Jensen. They have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild (deceased).
