OGDEN -- Weber State senior Anthony Morales has been named to the 2013 College Football Performance Awards Watch list for linebackers.
Morales is one of 37 linebackers in FCS football named to the list, including seven linebackers from the Big Sky Conference.
Morales, a native of Edmond, Okla., earned second team Big Sky All-Conference honors last season for the Wildcats. He led the Big Sky and finished third in the nation in tackles at 12.0 per game and averaged 13.9 tackles per game in Big Sky games. Morales appeared in nine games for the Wildcats and totaled 108 tackles on the season with 48 unassisted and 60 assisted. He also had 9.5 tackles for loss and had double figures in tackles in six of the seven conference games he played, including a career-high 23 tackles against Montana, which ranks as the sixth most in Weber State history.
He has served as one of the WSU team captains in each of the past two years. He has played in 30 career games at Weber State and has recorded 242 career tackles, just outside of the WSU all-time top 10 list.
The Wildcats open the 2013 season Aug. 31 with a home game against Stephen F. Austin.
