FARMINGTON -- Two people were hospitalized Wednesday after a pickup truck drifted across the center line and hit a car head-on.
Farmington Police Sgt. Dave Quinley said a 37-year-old man was driving a Dodge truck southbound near 600 N. Main St. around 9 a.m. when he lost consciousness and drifted into oncoming traffic. The truck hit a northbound Toyota Camry driven by a 62-year-old woman, causing the truck to roll and demolishing the car.
The woman suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to the hospital by helicopter, Quinley said. The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to the hospital by ambulance with a head injury. Both had to be extricated from their vehicles, and their conditions as of Wednesday night was not known.
Quinley said police are still investigating why the man lost consciousness, but a medical issue is a possible cause.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be involved.
