DES MOINES, Iowa -- Weber State senior Amber Henry finished sixth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon in Des Moines.
Henry posted a time of 10:00.80 to finish sixth in the event, in hot and humid conditions at Drake Stadium. The USA Championships include the top professional and collegiate athletes in the nation. The top three finishers advanced to the World Track Championships in August in Moscow, Russia.
Nicole Bush won in 9:44.53. Salt Lake City native Shalaya Kipp, who runs at Colorado, earned the third spot by running 9:46.83.
The meet wraps up a stellar season for Henry who earned All-America honors twice in the past year. She finished third in the steeplechase at the NCAA outdoor championships. She also earned All-America honors in cross country and repeated as Big Sky Confrence champion. She won three conference titles at the Big Sky outdoor championships and was named the Weber State female athlete of the year.
University of Utah runner Amanda Mergaert finished seventh overall in the finals of the women's 1,500 meters.
