During a recent Sunday talk show, the host asked senator Bob Lee to give his views as to why he's against the amnesty law which would give illegals who have been here for decades, a path way to citizenship. In his haste to either keep in good standards with the rest of the Republican Party or because he's afraid that it will lead to the extinction of the Republican party, Lee will vote against it.
Here's the thing and he knows it, or should. Without the hundreds of thousands or even millions of illegals living and working in the state of Utah, many of the businesses, farms and ranches could not exist and would go away. Illegals have contributed greatly to the state and without their hard work in the fields and factories, we would all be paying a much higher price for milk, veggies and other items which are produced by way of their employment. If they aren't welcome here, as lee seems to indicate, then why are there so many advertisements in Spanish trying to get their business?
If Lee and the others in the Republican Party would stop being racist haters and/or against this act, they would realize that there are millions of illegals in this country who aren't from south of the border and would gladly vote Republican. By Republicans' voting against it, illegals are disallowed to become citizens and voters as well. Just like the old saying goes, "if you stop hating and start thinking, things look much clearer."
One last thing, did Bob Lee's own ancestors come here legally? How would they feel if someone like him, would have denied them the right to become citizens after so much hard work, sweat and sacrifice? If not by the grace of God, go I," Senator Lee.
