SALT LAKE CITY -- Ciera Pekarcik, of Farmington, was crowned Miss Utah 2013 Saturday night at Capitol Theater in Salt Lake City.

Pakarcik, who was Miss Panoramaland, will now travel to every corner of the state and across the nation during her year of service as Miss Utah, speaking to audiences about her platform, Preventing Child Sexual Abuse, and serving as an ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

As a junior communications major at University of Utah, Pekarcik plans to work as a broadcast journalist after graduation. Along with the title of Miss Utah, she won a $10,000 scholarship to continue her education, a new car from Murdock Motors and housing for a year.

For the talent portion of competition, Pekarcik sang Via Dolorosa, by Sandi Patty, and won a preliminary award for her performance. She also was given the preliminary lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit award.

First runner-up was Miss Weber County, Savannah Lancaster, of South Ogden, who earned a $3,000 scholarship and won a preliminary award for talent earlier in the week. Lancaster's personal service platform is "Hearts for Hunger."
