CLEARFIELD – Robert Andrew Taylor was born December 6, 1933 in Ogden, Utahto Daniel Andrew Taylor and Isabelle Vee Batchelor.He passed away June 20, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah after an honorable and good life.
He graduated from Ogden High School and later received his degrees in education and history from Brigham Young University.
He served an LDS mission in Johannesburg, South Africa. He retired as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army and National Guard after serving forty-two years.He had served in the Korean War, Vietnam and Desert Storm.Among his awards are Korean medal and Bronze Star.
He had a long career in teaching elementary and high school, and had a deep love for history and his students.
Robert married his eternal sweetheart Janet Wight on August 23, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have ten children, eighteen granddaughters, eighteen grandsons, sixteen great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters; they are the joy of his life.
Janet passed away in a car accident June 10, 1997. Robert married Margaret Taylor in February 2008; he is a step-father to her seven children.
He is survived by Margaret and his nine living children: Daniel (Barbara), Karilyn, Susan (Todd), Connie (Douglas), LaDawn (Jesse), Tamra (Dustin), William (Ashley), Tara (Richard), and LaNae, his two living sisters Karen and Donna, and four sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his son Mark, his parents, his wife Jan and his sister Audrey.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 1p.m. at the Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden.A viewing will be held Wednesday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W. Roy from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services.
