LAYTON -- A registered sex offender is facing new charges, police said.

In 1995 Hamblin pleaded guilty to one count of attempted aggravated kidnapping and one count of forcible sexual abuse, both second-degree felonies. He originally had been charged in 1994 with two counts of first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and two counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse, He was sentenced to serve 1 to 15 years in Utah State Prison on each count, but to serve the sentences concurrently.

The 1994 charges stemmed from an incident in North Salt Lake, according to court documents. Hamblin had gotten into a car and when two teenage girls got inside it, he forced them to drive to a location, made them strip and then sexually abused them.

According to the state's sex offender registry, Hamblin was released from prison in 2005.
