CLEARFIELD -- A 13-year-old girl was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City by helicopter Thursday evening after a reported accidental shooting.
According to a news release from the Clearfield Police Department, the shooting happened at 221 N. 360 West. The girl's 15-year-old brother is believed to have accidentally discharged a .22-caliber handgun once, hitting the girl in the back of the shoulder.
Police said late Thursday they were not sure where the gun came from.
According to the news release, the bullet exited the front of the girl's shoulder, and she was conscious and communicating with officers on-scene. The children immediately notified their parents, and police were then called.
Police are still investigating the shooting, the release states, and no arrests have been made.
