FARMINGTON -- Three wrongs do not make a Chong and can land you in jail, a camper learned Wednesday.
Davis County Undersheriff Brent Peters was patrolling Farmington Canyon when he saw a campfire burning in an unimproved area at 1:30 p.m.
Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. Susan Poulsen stopped to assist Peters with the investigation.
Unfortunately for the camper, the fire was illegal and the camper was also busy smoking marijuana, also illegal, Poulsen said.
"When the undersheriff walked up beside him, (the camper) threw his weed into the river," Poulsen said, and that too is illegal.
The man was arrested and booked in Davis County Jail on possession of marijuana, illegal campfire and tampering with evidence.
Poulsen posted on the Davis County Sheriff's Facebook page, "Folks ... if you're going to channel your (inner) Cheech & Chong, please take our advice and only have your campfire in an improved fire pit, if you're in county area."
