As the nation's eyes were on the U.S. Supreme Court this week for its ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act, the Texas legislature was dealing with a bill that would have made it more difficult to get an abortion. Sen. Wendy Davis led a fillibuster against the bill for more than 10 hours, saying she was defending Texans she felt didn't have representation in the room.
When Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst ruled that Davis' fillibuster was in violation of the Senate's rules, the crowd reacted loudly, with chants of "Let her speak! Let her speak!"
The video has gone viral since the Texas Tribune posted it on YouTube.
