It is good to see this fine facility featured but the article in the Standard left out a large part of the story (June 3, "Marshall white Center patrons ask Ogden to find new manager"). This is a true success story. The turnaround under the current leadership has been amazing. We were approached by the manager to bring pickleball to their gym in the winter. They provided four indoor courts. We volunteered there five times a week for clinics, leagues and clubs during the past six months and worked closely with this wonderful staff. To show thanks, we held a round robin and exhibition match for the community to raise funds for the youth program.
The Ogden Pickleball Association supported in full force and made generous contributions. All of this happened as a thanks to the staff, and our ability to see firsthand the work they do with the children of the community and hoping to be invited back next year. That being said, many more options exist for this area of the community since we have now support.
In our opinion, OWCAP has done a good job but for this area to move forward it needs the support of the sports and recreation department of Ogden City. Those resources are valuable. Current management needs additional support in moving forward.
