The Defense Department said a soldier from Clearfield died Wednesday in a non-combat incident at Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar.
1st Sgt. Tracy L. Stapley, 44, was assigned to the 308th Medical Logistics Company, St. George. The unit was deployed to Qatar last winter.
The military said the death is under investigation.
The U.S. Third Army's website says the Army's Area Support Group-Qatar is located at Camp As Sayliyah. Units there maintain and perform all garrison operations to include medical facilities, fire departments, security forces and morale facilities. The camp also hosts a combat theater rest and relaxation program for deployed soldiers.
The Qatar camp supports operations of the war in Afghanistan, called Operation Enduring Freedom by the military.
