TREMONTON -- A 57-year-old woman has died in a car crash on Interstate 15 near the border of Tremonton and Elwood.

Faymarie Eames, of Brigham City, entered northbound I-15 from Elwood at 8:47 p.m. Saturday, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

The UHP report states that it appears as though Eames had attempted to turn left from the outside lane across northbound I-15 toward a median turn-through about a mile from the freeway entrance.

As she crossed the inside lane, her 1998 Buick Park Avenue was struck broadside by a 2006 Ford F-150 truck, the report states.

Eames had to be extricated from her vehicle by emergency responders. She and the driver of the truck were transported to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, where Eames was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The pickup driver, Rondell S. Nielson, 52, of Garland, was treated for injuries to his arm.

The inside lane of I-15 was closed for two hours Saturday night while officials investigated the crash.
