MIDWAY -- Now the fun begins.

The top 64 golfers will enter the second stage of the 115th Utah State amateur this morning at Soldier Hollow Golf Course.

BYU golfer Cole Ogden and defending champion Jon Wright will be the top two seeds as match play begins at 8 a.m. Ogden earned his top seed by earning medalist honors with a strong 67 on the Gold Course, to go with Monday's 71 on the Silver Course. His 6-under par 138 was two shots better than Joe Parkinson, the 2010 State Am champion, and Christian Jensen, who was second a year ago.

Cole Ogden birdied all the par-5s on Tuesday to earn medalist honors on the Gold Course.

Parkinson's 4-under score included a 2-shot penalty for missing his tee time.

Veteran golfer Jeff Jolley was next at 141, followed by JT Timmons at 142, and former State Am champ Dan Horner and USU golfer Tanner Higham at 143 along with Jon Wright, the 2012 champion at The Country Club.

Former champion Jeff Evans (144) and Todd Barker (146) advanced, along with Jeff Powarts 147,

First round leader Nicholas Smart shot a 76, but still qualified with a 144, tying Devon Purser. Colton Dallimore made it safely in at 148.

Fourteen golfers tied for the final three spots in the match play field, with Craig Wilson, Tyler Miner and Brandon Hargett earning the spots in three sudden-death holes.

After today's field is pared to 32 golfer, Thursday's action will include a pair of matches for the winners, followed by two more on Friday and a 36-hole championship match on Saturday.

Now the Ogden family of West Point has a challenge.

While Cole chases the State Am title over the next three days, older brother Clay will chase his own dream at the Web.com's Utah Championship which runs Thursday through Sunday at Willow Creek Country Club.

Clay Ogden won the local qualifying event Monday at Glen Eagle Golf Course. He shot a 65.
