I feel that it is deplorable that Roy city officials allowed the Roy Historical Museum to close (June 27, "Board members still emptying Roy Historic Museum"). As curator for the last three years, we all suffered a serious lack of support from the Roy mayor and city council. Look at all the cities around Roy that are trying to establish new museums for the people's enjoyment. Then, we had Roy officials who never seemed to care, nor did they lend any support or enthusiasm to our endeavours.
We had to support ourselves, our docents and our supporters through RAMP funds and bake sales. I am very disappointed about how Roy city fialed us.
Despite the embezzlement of RAMP money, we are glad that the problem is now resolved. Thanks to Jean George and Janet Piepgrass and their untiring efforts. Without them, we would never have lasted as long as we did.
Thank you to all t whose efforts made Roy Historic Museum what it was.
