SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City police say a woman out for a morning jog stumbled upon a 2-month-old baby all alone on the sidewalk.
Detective Veronica Montoya says the baby boy was found asleep in his stroller Monday morning on East A Street in the Avenues neighborhood. He was taken into protective custody and remained there Tuesday.
Officials say the mother eventually started looking for the boy and was interviewed by police hours later. Police say she was not arrested, but the case is being sent to the district attorney's office for likely charges.
Montoya says it's not clear why the mother left the baby alone, or how long he was outside.
She says the boy appeared to be in good condition and wasn't taken to the hospital.
