Rosemary Peterson Campbell passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Rosie was born in Ogden on February 5, 1929, to Clair and Ruth Brewer Peterson. She was raised in Ogden, but spent her summers at the Brewer family cabin in South Fork.
Rosie graduated from Ogden High in 1947 with highest honors in her class. She later graduated from Weber College where she focused on Home Economics and was honored for her scholastic achievement and many accomplishments. She was also affiliated with the Otyokwa Club and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Weber College for two years.
On June 11, 1952 she married Richard Watson Campbell, also from Ogden. They resided in several states during their early marriage, as Dick pursued his profession as an attorney in government service. They eventually settled in Ogden, where they raised their two children, Cindy and Jon. Rosie and Dick celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2012, shortly before he passed away.
Rosie was very involved in community service activities, and spent many years serving with the Junior League of Ogden. She particularly enjoyed decorating Christmas Village. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pleasant Valley 5th Ward.
Early in her working career, Rosie was employed by the telephone company. She later worked for many years as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked at Weber State University's Union Building Administrative Offices. She will be best remembered, however, for the love and service she gave her husband and children. She was an excellent cook and loved to garden, golf and ski. Despite her many health challenges in later life, she consistently set an example of cheerfulness and strength for all who knew her.
Rosie is survived by her daughter Cynthia (David) Erickson, her son Jon Richard (Kathy) Campbell, 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings: Marilyn Bennion, David Shupe and Gay DeGeorge.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden.
