SALT LAKE CITY -- Gov. Gary Herbert is calling the Utah Legislature into a special session next week to make technical changes to the committee investigating Attorney General John Swallow.
The House of Representatives created the committee with subpoena powers to earlier this month to examine allegations surrounding Swallow.
An email from House Speaker Becky Lockhart to lawmakers says the Legislature will meet Wednesday to address issues regarding subpoena powers and offers of immunity to witnesses and to ensure are able to hire special counsel from outside Utah.
The speaker's email was posted on the House website Friday.
Lockhart says changes also need to be made to exempt the committee from some open records and meeting laws.
Swallow has been dogged by misconduct allegations since he assumed office in January. He denies any wrongdoing.
