Thumbs up: To the continued improvement of six beavers that were badly injured due to an oil spill at Willard Bay on March 18. The animals are nearly at full recovery and may be released into the wild by the end of July.
Thumbs down: To unsafe driving and the often dangerous consequences. The latest example is a male bicyclist who died after a car hit him in Harrisville when the driver, police reported, ran a red light.
Thumbs up: To three Taco Bell customers who received $3,600 in cash instead of their food when moving through a drive-thru in Grand Rapids, Mich. The honest patrons returned the cash, which was meant for deposit in a local bank.
Thumbs down: To the loss of summer services in Tooele County, such as the county fair and a community pool. Both have been unfortunately closed due to severe fiscal problems resulting from poor financial decisions by county officials.
Thumbs up: To Weber State University athletes Sarah Callister and Amber Henry. Callister earned Academic All-American honors, first team, and Henry was named to the third team.
Thumbs down: To the deadly dangers of prescription drugs. Overdose deaths across the nation are rising strongly among middle-aged women, and even more men are dying of overdoses. It's an epidemic in this nation that continues to get worse, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
