TAYLORSVILLE -- A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a fire at a Taylorsville group home where he had been living.
The teen was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with one second-degree felony count of arson.
He's accusing of setting a June 22 fire in his bedroom at the Chrysalis Group Home and causing about $135,000 in damage.
According to charging documents, the teen sprayed deodorant on his clothing and set it on fire. He told investigators he didn't intend to hurt anyone else but was trying to kill himself.
The boy was treated for smoke inhalation and released. No other injuries were reported.
Six people living at the home were displaced by the blaze.
