SALT LAKE CITY -- A toddler broke free from his parents, bolted into traffic, was hit by Jeep Cherokee and managed to survive.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the child is doing surprisingly well at Primary Children's Hospital with few or no lasting injuries.
Cottonwood Heights Sgt. Scott Peck says the boy bounced violently in the air Friday afternoon and landed near a curb.
Pecks says the boy is no older than 2.
The driver of a Jeep Cherokee was described as shaken by the accident. Peck says the 20-something man wouldn't have time to stop before hitting the child.
