SALT LAKE CITY -- Gov. Gary Herbert has ordered the U.S. and state flags lowered Monday to honor Army 1st Sgt. Tracy L. Stapley, of Clearfield, died July 3 in a noncombat incident at Doha, Qatar.
The flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset Monday.
Stapley, 44, was assigned to the 308th Medical Logistics Company, St. George. The unit was deployed to Qatar last winter.
Herbert offered condolences to Stapley's family and friends.
The military said the death is under investigation.
