Vernon L. Arne, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Ogden, Utah.
He was born on Feb. 19, 1925 in Clark County, South Dakota. His parents were Earl and Isabelle Arne and he was the first of four children. He is survived by one brother, Don of Carpenter, South Dakota and one sister, Alice Louden of Woodland Hills, Ca. Vernon served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946.
Vernon's wife, Beverly, passed away in 1993. He is survived by three children and five step children: Larry, Lincolnville, ME; Dwight, Edwardsville, IL; Caroline Aizawa, Long Beach, CA; Richard Ott. Manchester, CT; Deborah Wamsley, Mason, OH; Pamela Heney, Houston, TX; James Ott, Virginia Beach, VA; Allen Ott, Ogden, UT; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Vernon received a degree in Engineering from Purdue in 1947. He worked for a number of Aerospace companies, retiring from Thiokol in 1988. After retirement Vernon did substitute teaching in the Box Elder School District.
Vernon was active in the Baptist church, Toastmasters club, AIAA-- an engineering society, and Gideons International. He has also been an active participant at the Senior Center in Brigham City, UT.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT.
A viewing will be held prior to the services 12 Noon to 12:45 pm.
Interment will be in the Petrodie Cemetery in Carpenter, South Dakota.
