Barbara Joyce Beus celebrated her 80th birthday on July 8. She was honored at a family celebration at her house in Ogden.
She was born and raised in Ogden on July 8, 1933, to Dorothy Rose Morley and Bernard Henstra Jr. She attended Ogden schools.
She met and married the love of her life, Richard Elvin Beus Sr., on July 15, 1950. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple on June 6, 1986. They will celebrate 63 years of marriage.
She has held various positions in the church. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom.
She did child care in her home for 20 years and made wedding cakes.
She enjoys oil painting and ceramics. In later years, she was a substitute teacher and cook for the Ogden and Weber school districts.
She and her husband enjoy traveling and dancing. They helped organize the Western Two Steppers more than 24 years ago and are still charter members of the club.
She says her greatest blessing in life is her family. Their children and their spouses are Richard Beus Jr., Ogden; Kenneth and Melanie Beus, North Ogden; and Babette and Dan Stagge, North Ogden. She has nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
