SALT LAKE CITY -- A Salt Lake City man who was shot by police after pointing a gun at officers has been arrested.
Officials say 35-year-old Kody Scott Sturgeon did not suffer life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the hand and thigh.
South Salt Lake Police spokesman Gary Keller says Sturgeon was pulled over on the highway around 2 a.m. Sunday.
Keller says Sturgeon was arguing with his girlfriend, who then got out of the car. Sturgeon drove off as a Utah Highway Patrol trooper was assisting her.
Keller says when officers found him later at his storage unit in South Salt Lake, Sturgeon pointed a gun at troopers and they fired at him.
No troopers were injured.
South Salt Lake Police, UHP and the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office are investigating the shooting.
