BOUNTIFUL -- Bountiful Historical Preservation Foundation is sponsoring three different tours as part of the city's Handcart Days, which is a celebration of the Mormon Pioneers entering the Salt Lake Valley.
Tours of the historic Bountiful Tabernacle, 51 S. Main, will be Saturday. The event is in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the tabernacle. Tours will take place at the tabernacle starting at 9:30 a.m. and will run every hour on the half hour. Tours are approximately one hour long. A short DVD about the history of the building will be shown in the cultural hall for viewing until the next tour begins. Artifacts will be on display in the foyer. There will also be tours of the outside of the building.
Bountiful Handcart Days Historical Bus Tours are also Saturday. Tours will leave from the Willey Cabin north of City Hall beginning at 9 a.m. There will be five tours on the hour, with the last one leaving at 1 p.m. The cabin and museum will be open during the tours.
The third tour is of Bountiful Memorial Park Cemetery at 2224 S. 200 West. These tours are will be held Sunday. Tours will begin at 6 p.m. and include presentations at various pioneer graves. There will be stories of early Bountiful pioneers. Each tour lasts approximately 15 minutes. Tours end at 8 p.m. Tours will highlight those early pioneers who helped to build the Bountiful Tabernacle.
