Carolyn Barr Wold celebrated her 80th birthday that included many activities. She was born June 4, 1933, in Ogden to Mary R. and Robert S. Barr. She married James L. Wold on Nov. 6, 1954, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ogden.
A former member of St. Joseph’s, she is now a member of Holy Family Parish, South Ogden. She served as president of the Council of Catholic Women for Holy Family.
She graduated from Weber High School in 1951 and attended St. Benedict’s School of Nursing from 1951 to 1954, graduating with a diploma in nursing. She attended Weber State College from 1971 to 1973 and transferred to the University of Utah School of Nursing for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree 1974, and a Master of Science in Nursing degree in nursing administration 1983.
She worked at St. Benedict’s Hospital from 1954 to 1959, as head nurse on the orthopedic/polio ward, at Ogden Clinic for Dr. I.B. McQuarrie, for Dr. Rulon Howe from 1959 to 1964 and as a float nurse, primarily in an intensive care unit/surgical wards. She was transferred to operating rooms as staff nurse in 1966, was appointed head nurse under the department head in 1971, and was appointed surgical services department head over operating rooms, post anesthesia, same-day surgery and vascular laboratory, and clinical specialist/OR education 1987 to 1994. She has been a part of many societies and organizations, and traveled to many countries.
Her children are Carolyn Marie Ross, Jim and Shelby Wold, and Paul and Carolyn Wold.
She has 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
