Brent and Jeanette Sorenson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children, grandchildren and siblings at the Logan LDS Temple and with a family dinner at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant in Perry on June 29. In May, they went on a tour to Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca in Peru.
They were married July 1, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.
He retired from education to do family history research in 2000. She is still employed at the Internal Revenue Service.
He is a graduate of North Cache High School in Richmond. She is a graduate of Ben Lomond High School in Ogden. They met while attending Utah State University in Logan, where both are also graduates. He served an LDS mission to Sweden from 1957 to 1960. They served a mission together in the Stockholm Sweden LDS Temple from 2000 to 2002.
After he graduated from USU in 1964, they moved to Stockton, Calif., where he taught school for 14 years. They returned to Utah in 1979 where he continued his teaching career, and they made their home in Layton.
Their five children and their spouses are Nadine and Marshall Noker, LaVista, Neb.; Dale and Amy Sorenson, North Ogden; Chad and Shallen Sorenson, Brigham City; Glen Sorenson (deceased); and Alicia and Jeff Palmer, Syracuse. They have 13 grandchildren with one more due in November.
