Michael Ralph Valdez, beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at Barretts Hospital in Dillon, Montana surrounded by his family.

Mike was born November 12, 1947 to Santos L. and Isabel Valdez in Ogden, Utah

Mike enlisted in the United States Army in 1967. After his enlistment ended, he started his career at Hill Air Force Base, Utah and retired after 30 years. He was currently employed at University of Montana Western as a Janitorial Supervisor.

In 1984, Mike met his soul mate and lifelong partner, Nora. They were married November 7, 1986.

Mike was an amazing man with a heart of gold. He never met a stranger and always made everyone feel like they were someone special. He loved spending time with his grandkids, camping, fishing, golf and finding lost treasures with his metal detector.

Mike had his lifelong dream come true in April 2013 of fishing in Alaska, made possible by generous donations from his coworkers at University of Montana Western.

He is survived by his loving wife Nora; his children, Nicole (Daniel) McMillen, Farr West, Ut.; Jake (Kelci) Hales, Dillon; Josh Hales, Dillon; Jon (Jolene) Hales, Dillon. His Grandchildren, Nick, Preston, Austin, MaCaila, Kamberlee Jo, Callie, Grace and Shiloe. Brothers; Vic (Carmen) Valdez, LaVerkin; John, Ogden; Sisters, MaryAnn (Rudy) Herrera, El Paso, TX.; Jenny (Joe) Hernandez, Washington Terrace, Aunts, Mabel and Cecilia, many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends Mike and Joy Marston.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Jr.

Services will be held Saturday July 27, 2013 at Brundage Funeral Home 300 S. Atlantic St., Dillon, Mt. at 10am. Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2013 from 6-8pm and a half hour prior to services on Saturday. Graveside services will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon.
