SALT LAKE CITY -- A new trial date has been set for a Burmese refugee accused of sexually assaulting and killing a 7-year-old neighbor girl in 2008.
Esar Met's three-week trial was initially set for July 15, but was postponed. It's now scheduled to begin Jan. 6.
The 26-year-old Met was ordered to stand trial on felony aggravated murder and kidnapping charges in the death of Hser Ner Moo, whose body was found in Met's South Salt Lake apartment on April 1, 2008.
Authorities say the child was raped, strangled and beaten to death the day before after leaving her own house to look for a playmate.
