GARLAND - Thelma Ruth Thompson Manning passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2013 with her family by her side. Thelma was born on January 21, 1928 in Elwood, Utah, a daughter of Eugene and Miriam Selman Thompson.
She graduated from Box Elder High School and Dee Hospital School of Nursing. She attended Weber State College, University of Utah, and the University of Montana. Thelma and her sweetheart Glenn Erickson Manning were married on April 18, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. Glenn died on August 12, 2012.
Thelma was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in all auxiliaries of the Church; she served with her husband in the Logan LDS Temple, the Chile Santiago Temple Mission and in the Tremonton Spanish Branch. She was active in Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Utah Farm Bureau Women's Committee and as a Registered Nurse. Thelma enjoyed gardening, playing piano and mandolin, sewing, quilting, cooking, and recently learned to paint.
Surviving are her children: Frederic (Susan) Manning, Gary (Yvonne) Manning, Evelyn (Kelly) Waldron, Cheri (Jerry) Roberts, Alan (Karen) Manning, Tina (Jeff) Welter, Roy (Jennifer) Manning; 31 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; also siblings: Carol (DeVerl deceased) Barker, Grant Thompson and Kathyrn (Gary) Hill.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a granddaughter, Holly Manning.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garland Tabernacle, 140 W. Factory, Garland, UT with Bishop Gary Manning officiating. Friends may call Sunday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Tabernacle.
Interment will be in the Garland Cemetery.
Services under the direction of Myers Mortuary in Brigham City.
