OREM -- Try as he might, Brandon Trinkwon couldn't extend his team-high hitting streak to 16 games.

But his Ogden Raptors teammates picked up the slack, smacking 16 hits en route to a 12-8 victory over the Orem Owlz on Saturday night in Pioneer League baseball action at Brown Ballpark.

Raptors right fielder Joey Curletta hit a grand slam in a five-run fourth inning to lead the onslaught. Ogden improved to 18-18 with just two games left in the first half of the season.

The Raptors trailed 3-1 entering the fourth inning.

Pat Stover led off the inning with a double off the wall in right. After Jesus Valdez walked, Kyle Farmer singled to center field to load the bases. Alex Santana then drew a walk to force home Stover.

Two batters later, Curletta hit his second homer of the season, a grand slam to left field, putting the Raptors ahead 6-3.

Valdez got the Raptors on the board in the second inning. Down 1-0, Valdez started the inning with his fifth home run in seven games hitting one off the scoreboard in right, tying the game 1-1.

Raptors reliever Luis De Paula earned his first win. The lefty pitched four shutout innings, scattering five hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Curletta finished the game with six RBIs. Along with his grand slam, he hit a two-run double in the ninth.

Trinkwon went 0-4 with two walks, ending his 15-game hitting streak. Jacob Scavuzzo, Valdez and Santana each ended the night with a pair of hits.

Alex Allbritton had three hits for Orem. The Owlz scored fourth runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, and had two more aboard when reliever Kyle Hooper got the final two outs.

With the loss by the Owlz (19-17) loss, Grand Junction clinched the Southern Division title. Helena has clinched the North Division first-half title.

The winners of each half of the season meet in the first round of the playoffs.

The Raptors will enjoy an off day today before returning back to Lindquist Field for a four-game series with the Grand Junction Rockies, starting Monday.

The first two games will count toward the first half with the second half starting on Wednesday. Scott Barlow will pitch for the Raptors against Joel Payamps.
