Robert and Jelean Montgomery of North Ogden celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and his 80th birthday recently with their children and spouses with a trip to New York City.
They were married June 24, 1953, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
He was born May 13, 1933, in North Ogden to Floyd and Addie Montgomery. She was born in Taylor to John and Ruby Skeen.
Shortly after their marriage, he was drafted into the Army for two years and served in Korea. Both attended Weber College. He graduated from Brigham Young University and University of Utah Medical School. He took his internship at Harvard University at Boston City Hospital and finished his surgery residency at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City and Memorial Hospital in New York City. She was busy with church callings and civic organizations while raising five children.
After residency, they moved to Anaheim, Calif., where he practiced surgery. After his retirement, they moved back to Utah, where he was elected to the Utah State Senate for eight years.
For 30 years, the family has owned and operated Montgomery Ranch in Rosette. They also enjoy traveling the world with family and friends.
Their children and spouses are Dr. Lance and Dawna Montgomery, Laguna Beach, Calif.; Dana and Steve Donahoo, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Kristen and Dr. Jeff Sumsion, Park City; Keri and Todd Harris, North Ogden; and Tanya and Ken Tarlton, Valley Center, Calif. They have 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
