SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City police say they've arrested a man who hopped into an idling car and drove it off while a 2-year-old and 3-year-old were sleeping in the back seat.

Authorities say the incident happened a little before 4 p.m. Wednesday outside a Little Caesars pizza restaurant.

Police say a woman had parked her car at the business and went inside to pick up some pizzas when 24-year-old Jeremy Ohm jumped in and drove off.

An officer spotted the vehicle about a mile and a half away.

Police say Ohm was taken into custody and will be investigated for kidnapping, vehicle theft and hit-and-run for striking another vehicle during the heist.

Police tell the Deseret News the woman, who was related to the children, likely won't face neglect charges.
