Violet Joyce Hansen lemon

PERRY – Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend: Violet Joyce Hansen Lemon, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2013 after a short, but valiant fight with pancreatic cancer.She was born to Arthur Erastus and Esther May Olsen Hansen in Rupert, Idaho, on April 20, 1928.She spent her early years growing up in Young Ward, Cache County, and Ogden, Utah, graduating from Ogden High School in 1946.

She married Glen J. Nelson on April 21, 1947.From this marriage came four sons and one daughter while living in Mantua, Utah.After they divorced she married her sweetheart and best friend, Keith Alma Lemon, in the Ogden LDS Temple, on February 28, 1980.Joyce and Keith spent 31 wonderful years together.They served four missions:Peoria Illinois Nauvoo, Kentucky Louisville, Martins Cove, and the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City.In addition to these missions, Joyce spent many years as a worker in the Ogden Temple and most recently the Brigham City Temple, a service she loved very much.

Joyce had a strong and endearing testimony of the Savior.She loved serving in numerous church callings throughout her life, and raised all of her children to serve full time missions.Joyce loved to teach and enjoyed working in the Head Start program for many years teaching children and adults.

She is survived by her children Michael G. (Karole) Nelson, Terry G. (Karen) Nelson, Dennis A. (Brenda) Nelson, Reed A. (Kim) Nelson, Laura (Mark) Spencer; 25 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; sisters: Cleo Travis, Della Pugmire, Evelene Rice, and Marjorie Rice. Also survived by her step-children: Gordon (Denise) Lemon, Terry (Marnie) Lemon, Amy (Bruce) Jeppesen, Lisa Smith, 13 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband Keith; her parents; brothers: A. Phillip Hansen, Richard L. Hansen, Harry L. Hansen, O. Thomas Hansen; sister Ella May Rasmussen; grandchildren Stephen Nelson, and Shawna Wagstaff.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry Stake Center, 685 W. 2250 S., Perry, Utah.A viewing will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, Utah and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the chapel prior to the services.Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
