Kent and Carole Bingham of South Ogden will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Later this year, they plan to take a cruise to the southern hemisphere.

They met at the old Dee Hospital — he as a patient, she as the nurse. They were married on Aug. 2, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.

He was born in Ogden to Angus H. and Lucile Maxine Galt Bingham. His sibling is Shirley and Robert Huddleston. He graduated from South Cache High School (1956) and Utah State University College of Civil Engineering (1960). He worked for the federal government for more than 41 years, the last 37 years with the U.S. Forest Service in Ogden. Since retirement, his passion has been genealogy for himself and others.

She was born in Grand Junction, Colo., to Wendell H. and Maude T. Heigis Richardson. Her siblings are Gene and Phyllis Richardson (deceased), Shirley and William Rizley, Sharon Richardson, and Glen and Heather Richardson. She graduated from Ogden High School (1958), Weber State College with a degree in nursing (1960) and University of Utah with a degree in secondary education (1962). She taught at Ogden High School before spending time as a stay-at-home mother. In 1978, she returned to nursing, retiring from the state of Utah in 2004 with 30 years of service. Since retirement, her hobbies have been quilting and trying to keep up with technology.

They enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing cards and board games, and traveling.

Their children are Michael and Teri Bingham, Brian and Nichole Bingham, and Kristine and John Ellis.
