This is the first time I have ever sent a letter to the editor, but I feel like it's so important, I had to write in.
I don't want people to think that concerns expressed by the writer of the Aug. 3 letter, "Sunset voters should check candidates' track records," are isolated and felt only by him concerning the current situation in Sunset city.
I am encouraged by the groundswell of support for Beverly Macfarlane's campaign for the position of Sunset city mayor.
May of Sunset city's citizens are deeply concerned about the antics of some city councilmen, much of which is illegal, to promote their own agendas to the detriment of the city. The scare thing is, they are running for mayor!
They were advised and even warned by city and state attorneys that what they were doing was illegal, but they keep right on doing it. Is this the caliber of persons we want running our city?
I have been a citizen of sunset for many years and have watched in dismay, during the last few years as the state of our city has deteriorated.
Beverly Macfarlane has lived here many years and cares about Sunset. She is well educated and knowledgeable of government procedures and she won't stand by and let council persons go over her head and do as they please when it's against the law, or not in their job descriptions, as has happened in the past.
Beverly Macfarlane is a strong candidate we need to elect her. It's what Sunset needs.
So, citizens of Sunset, if you care about the city, please step up and make your voice heard.
One more thought: These councilmen who are running for mayor will retain their council seats if they don't get into the mayoral position. So, watch them very closely and let's get them out of office when they come up for re-election! Remember, early voting is Monday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 9.
We citizens who love Sunset and deeply care, want to see it brought back in order and back to the great and beautiful city it used to be.
