SALT LAKE CITY -- The U.S. Department of the Interior says energy development, tourism and outdoor recreation is a $12 billion industry in Utah.
The Interior Department says energy supports 49,000 jobs and outdoor recreation, 18,000.
Interior takes credit for much of the economic activity. It says people visit federal lands in Utah 17 million times a year.
Federal officials say Arches National Park gets more than 1 million visitors who drop $65 million a year.
The statistics are from an economic report for 2012 fiscal year released Monday by the Interior Department.
